National Geographic On Campus Scholarship

As part of the University of Virginia’s ongoing partnership with the National Geographic Society, we are proud to offer three $5,000 scholarships for the 2019-2020 academic year, one in each of the following categories:

  • Storytelling
  • Community resilience
  • Environmental resilience

In order to receive the National Geographic On Campus Scholarship, you must:

  • be a current full-time student (undergraduate, graduate, or professional) at the University of Virginia or the University of Virginia’s College at Wise; and
  • be enrolled as a full-time student during the 2019-2020 academic year.

To apply, please submit your completed application by noon on Monday, April 15, 2019.  The application includes the following three components:

  • A student information form;
  • A relevant CV/resume of no more than one page (first and second year undergraduates may include activities from high school); and
  • A personal statement of no more than 750-words demonstrating how your personal and professional development and plans for the future fit with the mission and goals of the National Geographic Society as stated below.
