Alison Glassie is a Ph.D candidate in English at the University of Virginia. She specializes in hemispheric American literatures, modern and contemporary literatures, and the environmental humanities. Ali has taught undergraduate and high school courses in world literature, American literature, and the literature of the marine environment. She has also taught aboard tall ships in the Atlantic and the Caribbean. At present, Ali is finishing a dissertation on contemporary sea fiction. Her work has been published in Coriolis and Blue Water Sailing and her most recent article is forthcoming in Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature and Environment. Ali holds an M.A. in marine affairs from the University of Rhode Island.
